Kelowna. Bail-jumping dealer caught. A man convicted of picking up a package containing more than 12 kilos of an MDMA analog has been apprehended after he failed to show up to his trial while out on bail. Ethan Dillon, 22, was first arrested on April 1, 2015, after picking up the package, which had been shipped to Kelowna from Hong Kong. Even though Dillon failed to show up for his trial two weeks ago, he was convicted on April 4. Meanwhile, the Public Prosecution Service of Canada has confirmed Dillon was arrested last weekend. The package had been flagged by the Canada Border Services Agency after 12.55 kilograms of MDEA was found inside. Shortly after picking it up at the local Loomis courier depot, Dillon was arrested on Westside Road along with the two other people in his car. Dillon told police he had been asked to pick up the box by a friend and didn't know its contents, but conceded he thought “it was probably Pose porte de garage coulissante sur mesure a Annecy-le-Vieux 74940 or meth,” referring to MDMA or methamphetamine. Dillon's co-accused, Steve Allen, pleaded guilty to possession for the purpose of trafficking last September and was sentenced to 18 months in jail. The trial for Dillon, who was representing himself, began on March 26, but when he skipped bail, a warrant was issued for his arrest. Police found him at his Peachland home. Back in court that afternoon, Dillon told Justice Lisa Wyatt that Crown prosecutor Clarke Burnett had told him the trial started the following day, and Burnett confirmed he had made a mistake. After his first day of trial, Dillon was once again released on bail, but he failed to return the following day. Another warrant was issued, but Justice Wyatt continued with the trial, despite Dillon's absence. He was convicted of possession of MDEA for the purpose of trafficking and simple possession of cocaine. Sentencing was put over until he was found. Dillon's scheduled to face another bail hearing on April 23.
